The Poet

The Poet: Emily Isaacson

Emily Isaacson is the poet and author of 14 books. She was born in 1975 in Windsor, Canada and grew up in Victoria, B.C.  She lives in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, where she is director of the Wild Lily Institute.

Isaacson began writing poetry at age ten on Vancouver Island. She was first published at age thirteen for her poem, “The Wild Madonna.” She has published over ten books of poetry as a Canadian author. She spent five years compiling her first publication, The Fleur-de-lis, a three volume work of over 800 poems.

She partnered with artist Tatjana Mirkov-Popovicky of the painting above to bring you A Familiar Shore in 2015. Read the page Empires for her selection from the book. Also visit the Sea Chamber book blog.

Writing poetry is unlike playing Mozart or stringing pearls. There is wisdom in the ordering of its gems. Bring your friends and curl up by the fire to listen to some of the most outstanding poetry from the Fraser Valley.  Emily Isaacson is postmodern poet, and has even published a children’s book.

Since her early days in the backwoods of Mission, Emily has perfected the art of poems. She is a professional author and arts advocate in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia.
